i keep going back to the acceptance page and rereading it. i cannot believe this haha. thank you so much! you really inspired me last year with the story of your yale acceptance so i am amazed to be in your position!!! so i suppose a belated congrats to you tooo!!!
I did the same exact thing over and over and over again (the first time partially because I actually never saw the acceptance letter and only heard part of the song hahaa)! Seriously, freaking congrats! I’m so happy to hear you got in! I’m really humbled to hear how much you liked my story, and I’m so happy to know other people in similar situations are getting recognized for their hard work, and perseverance.
Oh, you know how you cannot believe this right now? It was never go away hahaaa. Honestly, every. single. day. last semester I remembered how blessed I was to be here. Even though it doesn’t cross my mind every day now, I’m always reminded no matter how bad my day is, or how shitty I feel, I’m going to college. A good deal of my family and friends couldn’t even do that. And on top of that, I’m going to one of the best schools in the world with people who are inspiring, helpful, amazing, and some of the greatest friends you’l make. Writing this all out gives me goosebumps again because I’m remembering how I couldn’t wait to come here. I’m so happy for you. Congrats again! You deserve it! Get excited for the next four years. You’re a Yalie!
Shut the fuck up, anyone who espouses this sort of belief. (The blog I’ve linked is merely an example of the shit I’ve been seeing today on the internets.) You have every right to be upset/anxious/distressed about not getting into…
“I just wanted to tell you I am super proud of you. Words cannot explain how great it was seeing you in such a beautiful place yesterday. I love you so much baby!”—
A text from my Titi Daisy.
When I’m swamped with work and feel like I’m doing nothing right, a text like this makes me realize how completely grateful I am to be here and have such a supporting family. And It also reminds me how no matter how old am I, I’m always a baby to my family.
I practically spent all my time in Vandy (where Branford freshmen live). My closest friends are pretty much all in Branford, and I knew it would be awesome to live with them next year. I get along with my suitemates in Trumbull great, but overall I don’t know the majority of the people in Trumbull well enough to want to stay. There’s nothing wrong with Trumbull (I’m actually gonna really miss having access to the Trumbutt), but I just feel more at home in Branford.
I was on chat roulette with a few friends, and spent the last twenty minutes being serenaded by a guy playing any song we requested on his trumpet. From Pocahontas to Pokemom, Avicii to the theme song from the Titanic, this freaking guy was amazing and was able to play everything from memory! He definitely made sifting through all the penises worth it hahaaa.
You probably get annoying questions like these all the time, but do you like Yale a lot? Like do you have time to have fun on weekends, and is there fun to be had if one is looking for it?? I'm just trying to make college choices and since academics at certain schools are a given, I thought it'd be a good idea to consider the social/party side. Thanks for your time!
This is DEFINITELY is not an annoying question! Don’t worry about it at all. I truly love Yale so much. Even not talking academics, opportunities, and extracurriculars, I am in complete bliss here. A good deal of that is because the atmosphere is really comforting, and it’s a freakin’ fun! hahaa. I think a lot of people here believe in the motto “work hard, play hard[er]” and that’s clearly seen on the weekends (which by the way can start as early as Wednesday for some people). There’s is practically something to do every night if you want to go out, and it’s not hard to find at all. Most, if not all, open events are on Facebook so you always know what’s happening. Aside from big events, there are always suite parties/pregames happening that people go to. And if you’re not into partying, you can still enjoy yourself on weekends with good company. It never a dull moment (for the most part) here. And even if I find there’s nothing to do, I’m surrounded by awesome friends so it’s never a bad night.
Thanks, anon! I definitely had a great time this weekend with friends especially with the 90s party hahaa. Even today, which is usually filled with work wasn’t so terrible. My titis and cousin surprised me with a visit since I haven’t seen them in months, and it was awesome catching up and showing them around campus. And now I’m sitting in the Branford common room “doing work” with friends haha. This weekend was definitely a good one. Hope you enjoyed your’s, too!
The reason you're seeing cloak 'n' mask folks around is because this is tap season for senior societies. Juniors get interviewed for societies by seniors in masks so that they won't know what society is interviewing them--plus, it's traditional. It's ridiculous, but fun in a surreal sort of way.
