Hey, congrats on Yale! I was wondering what kind of research you are involved in. I'm going into the biomedical sciences field and was curious if you are too
Hey, congrats to you, too! :] I did environmental research on oil spill clean-up using oil-degrading bacteria. It was the only science that I was really interested in, somewhat able to handle, and capable of not completely destroying my lab in some sort of catastrophe lol. What biomedical research did you do?
congrats on Yale (:
what EC's did you do? how were you academics?
Thanks so much! It’s really means a lot :)
I played varsity swimming, tennis, and golf for my school. I was also the secretary of my school’s chapter of National Honor Society. Through NHS I volunteered a lot in my community and school. I went into depth with science research and did a research program over the summer for two years in which I created my own research study, and got sponsored by Lemelson-MIT. My partners and I were fortunate enough to place in competitions and we won awards through regional up to the international level.
My academics? I took 3APs in junior year and 5APs this year. All my other classes were honors if available. I think I’ll graduate with a 94.something average, being ranked number four.
Today I was passing by my old elementary school with my friend, and I got a random urge to see my old fourth grade teacher who I haven’t seen since I graduated in fifth grade. I walked in, waited in the lobby for school to end, and started walking to her class. I was so nervous she wouldn’t remember me since I haven’t seen her in over seven years. Immediately when she saw me, she screamed “WILLIE!!” and hugged me. I was so relieved she instantly recognized me (most people don’t since I was super short and wore glasses up to 9-10th grade). We talked for a little while about how time past so fast; how much people changed; how much the town changed; everything. She even mentioned how she always mentions me to her classes, which put a smile on my face. When she asked where I was going next year, she screamed in happiness and had tears in her eyes when I said Yale. I had to leave early since I had work, but before she left she told me she would love for me to come back to talk to her students. I always wanted to talk to other students from my town of all ages to hopefully persuade them to motivate themselves to succeed so I immediately said yes. Although I doubt I’ll make a difference, I think it’s a great way to show young students in my town that despite the struggles we face, we can achieve our goals if we push our self to success. As I left, we hugged once more and I told her it was great seeing her again, it made my day. She replied with “seeing and hearing about what you’ve done made my year."
I love how random impulses can lead to such great moments :]
I applied early action so it was pretty much the only school I applied to. When I sent in my app, I applied to and got accepted into Middlebury College and SUNY Binghamton (both of which aren’t really like Yale). If I didn’t get in or got deferred, I would have applied to a trillion others schools and have a spaz attack and die haha
Out of nowhere while I was taking the bus today it started to downpour. Luckily I had an umbrella, but a girl who was getting off on the same stop as me didn’t. When we got off, I told her to come under my umbrella and I’d walk her home. I never spoke to her before, or recognized for that matter. I can’t even tell you I know her name. I literally got soaking wet (shoes: done, shirt: drenched, jeans: wet up to my knees), but it was okay. It was definitely worth it when she looked up at me and said thanks with a smile across her face. I don’t know why, but that made my day.
“Attention: Classmates of Willie; Yale 2015.
This goes out to all the guys. WHOEVER tires to become this kid’s bestfriend in college will have to deal with me! I may be in the city, but that does not mean I won’t take the train and get up there to shank you. You can say hi, maybe even wave, but thats it….. keep it moving.
He decided to write that on my wall on Facebook to keep me from making a new bestfriend haha. Some might call it a bromance, I call it hilarious! hahaa
I was trying to find pictures of Yale, since I RULLYYYY want to go there and i found your tumblr. Thanks for the follow!! (:
Ahh what year are you!? Sorry for getting so excited, but I’m just a total creep (like everyone in the class of 2015, and it’s amazing <3 haha). I really hope you get in; you’ll freaking love it! Get ready to see a lot of posts about it from me! And no problem :]
My source of procrastination. But I’m not complaining! The Facebook group is freaking amazing, and everyone is the greatest. We’re all so hyped and excited to meet each other, I can’t imagine how awesome it’s gonna be in August! Only 124 more days till move-in day :]
“Death is terrifying because it is so ordinary. It happens all the time.”—
It’s ridiculous how much violence their is in my town right down my own block. No matter what you did in life, no matter the choices you made, no one deserves to die like that. Unfortunately circumstances like this make me feel lucky that I am leaving, but pushes me more to come back and help somehow.
william!! :) i like how your blog is mostly about yale, that's the way to go lol
haha I just made it last night, and Yale is the practically the only thing on my mind!!! :] Eventually I’ll figure out how to work this, and it’ll be more diverse (but still Yale stuff nonetheless <3 lol)
Another Yalie came up with the great idea of creating a playlist of each of our favorite songs. The playlist was sent back to us today, and it’s freaking amazing! All the songs are great, and every one is talking about how much they love it! I’ve only listened to a few songs so far, but it’s freaking brilliant.
Here’s one of the first songs on the playlist. I can already tell this playlist is gonna be a HUGE distraction :]
Yea, so I really don’t know what made me create a blog at 12:30 in the morning, but hey why not? I think it’ll be pretty neat to look back on random stuff I write, post, *insert whatever you do on here* during the last few months of high school and the last official summer at home. Call me odd, but I lovenostalgia so this will give a smile while I read this in the future. I’m kinda too tired to post or reblog something more meaningful, so I’ll leave it at this and call it a night.
